General description

The ultrasonic flowmeter has transit time or doppler type. They're  used for volumetric flow measurement which hase no moving parts. Ultrasonic flowmeters are ideal for the wastewater applications or any dirty liquid which is conductive or water based. Ultrasonic flowmeters are also ideal for applications where low pressure drop, chemical compatibility, and low maintenance are required.

Transit time ultrasonic flow meter

When use the transit time ultrasonic flowmeters, be sure that the fluid can adequately conduct ultrasonic waves, because the flowmeter will not measure when the ultrasonic waves cannot penetrate the flow stream between the transducers. Similarly, ultrasonic waves must be able to penetrate the fluid for Doppler flowmeters to operate accurately. When the fluid is relatively opaque and does not penetrate the fluid, Doppler flowmeters tend to measure the velocity of the fluid at or near the pipe wall, which can cause significant measurement error and/or cause the flowmeter to fail.

Work principle:

The pipe type inline ultrasonic flowmeter is a precision instrument designed for linear, bi/directional volumetric flow

measurement of liquids. Flow measurement values can be output via the standard analog and-or pulse/frequency

outputs. Through a user friendly operator interface (HMI) the unit can be set up for a wide range of applications.

Next to actual volumetric flow measurement the unit can be configuredto perform flow totalization (plus, minus and

sum). Also measurement and output of the liquid sonic velocity can be configured. Optionally the unit can be set to

perform one of the following additional functions:

  •  Calculate and output corrected standard volumetric or mass flow using external pressure & temperature inputs
  •  Batch function
  •  Heat function, combining T1, T2 and volume
